Of the 13 publications, two were prepared by researchers from the UK and Poland, and the rest by their colleagues from Russia. The authors of nine works are scientists from St. Petersburg. There are four sections in the journal: Academic Discourse, Empirical Research, Critiques, Chronicle. Articles of the Academic Discourse section subtitled «1917» are devoted to the Russian revolution of 1917. Different political and cultural aspects of the influence of the media image of the revolution on public consciousness are considered from different methodological points of view. From our point of view the article «The Russian revolution of 1917 in the BritishAmerican press» (by N. Ju. Prays) should be highlighted. In the paper the mechanism of legitimization by the British press of the February events of 1917 and delegitimization of the October events is revealed. The general conclusion that the reader of this section can make is that even though a hundred years have passed it is not yet possible to analyze and evaluate the revolutionary events of 1917 objectively and impartially. The Empirical Research section of the journal contains six publications presenting the results of various empirical studies, which focused mainly on mass media. The typological features of the Russian-language American press, the information policy of the region, Russia's sports image, political factors of the transformation of the Polish local press were the subjects of the investigations. It should be noted that most of the topics covered in the section are local. These cases can be used as a basis for generalizing conclusions even though they may seem to be very narrow. For instance, the paper «Modern state and future of the local press in Poland» (M. Gierula and J. Gierula) points out the growing trend of governmental influence on Polish mass media. It pushes the reader to look for and find analogies, to think about this phenomenon as a global. In the Chronicle section a report on the Polish Communicative Association international conference by M. A. Berezhnaia was published, it illustrates the scientific contacts of St. Petersburg University.
